It doesn’t matter how long you were in a relationship or how long ago it ended. Sometimes, letting go of old attachments can be really hard. When we cling to past hurts and regrets, it’s like carrying a heavy load that keeps us from fully embracing life as it is today. Use the script below to release this pain and create space for healing and positive transformation.
Find a quiet place where you can focus without interruptions. Take a few deep breaths to ground yourself. Assess how much you feel stuck in this past relationship on a scale from 0 to 10, with 0 meaning that you don’t experience that feeling at all and 10 being extremely intense. This will help you track your progress.
Start tapping on the Karate Chop point (side of the hand) and repeat:
- “Even though I’m still holding on to this past relationship and the pain it caused, I deeply and completely accept myself.”
- “Even though I feel stuck in the pain from this past relationship, I deeply and completely accept who I am.”
- “Even though letting go of this past relationship feels impossible, I deeply and completely love and accept myself.”
Start tapping:
- Eyebrow (EB): This lingering sadness and pain.
- Side of the Eye (SE): The memories that keep coming back.
- Under the Eye (UE): I still think about him and it still hurts.
- Under the Nose (UN): The regrets and what-ifs.
- Chin (CH): I feel so stuck in the past.
- Collarbone (CB): The feelings are still very strong.
- Under the Arm (UA): And I still feel hurt and angry.
- Top of the Head (TH): This repetitive thought that it didn’t have to go that way.
- Eyebrow (EB): I think I will never be able to move on.
- Side of the Eye (SE): I don’t think I could ever love again.
- Under the Eye (UE): Even though a part of me would really want that.
- Under the Nose (UN): And maybe one day I could let go of the hurt.
- Chin (CH): But it seems impossible for me.
- Collarbone (CB): Even though deep inside I know that I deserve to heal from the past.
- Under the Arm (UA): I deserve to be free and move forward.
- Top of the Head (TH): A part of me is ready to let go of this pain.
Take a deep breath and continue tapping.
- Eyebrow (EB): I want to do that for myself.
- Side of the Eye (SE): I choose to release these memories.
- Under the Eye (UE): I choose to release this anger.
- Under the Nose (UN): I choose to release the frustration.
- Chin (CH): I am releasing this hurt and sadness.
- Collarbone (CB): I choose to be free.
- Under the Arm (UA): Letting go of the emotional baggage.
- Top of the Head (TH): I am ready to let him go.
Take a deep breath.
- Eyebrow (EB): And I am ready to let myself go.
- Side of the Eye (SE): I welcome the healing energy into my heart.
- Under the Eye (UE): I trust the process of my healing journey.
- Under the Nose (UN): I trust myself.
- Chin (CH): I choose to focus on my inner healing.
- Collarbone (CB): I choose to focus on the present.
- Under the Arm (UA): I am filled with love and gratitude.
- Top of the Head (TH): I am at peace with my past.
Take a deep breath in and out. Reevaluate how strong is the feeling on a scale from 0 to 10. Over time, you should notice a shift in how you feel about this past relationship, allowing you to move forward with more peace and clarity. Remember, EFT is a personal journey, you can always modify the statements to better suit your feelings and experiences.
